Should I obtain a survey?
In New York, often buyers choose to have a survey conducted. Obtaining a survey is beneficial because it will let you know exactly where your property lines are located. It is becoming more common for lenders to require a survey in order to proceed with the mortgage. In this case, the buyer has no choice but to pay for a survey, unless they are willing and able to find an alternative lender who will not require one.
