How long will my divorce take?
It is hard to forecast how long it will take to finalize your divorce. If you and your spouse completely agree on the final terms for your divorce, a judgment of divorce can be entered relatively quickly. However, you must still allow reasonable time (approximately 2 to 4 months) for papers to be drafted and agreed upon, submitted to the Court for review, and for the Court to sign and enter the papers with the Clerk to make the divorce official. If you have to negotiate a settlement (referred to as a Stipulation of Settlement) with your husband or wife; this task almost always adds more time to the process as there are many details to agree upon and document.
